REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE 2026 CHAMPIONSHIP!

ABOUT THIS DIVISION

Our new Junior Division will emphasize rider education, safety, and long-
term land stewardship. Foxhunting is uniquely positioned among equestrian disciplines as a
conservation-driven sport—one that depends upon the preservation of open space, respectful
land use, and cooperative relationships with landowners. Rather than emphasizing competition alone, foxhunting operates as a living conservation model in which success is defined by ethical horsemanship, protection of wildlife habitat, preservation of working landscapes, and the shared responsibility of ensuring the safety and welfare of horses, hounds, riders, and the land itself. Participation requires riders to understand terrain, weather, wildlife movement, and land boundaries, reinforcing an ethic of care and accountability for the environment.

The TARFHC Junior Division is intentionally designed to introduce young riders to these
conservation principles early in their equestrian education. Junior participants learn how
foxhunting supports the conservation of thousands of acres of open land by fostering positive
relationships between hunt clubs and private landowners, maintaining access to undeveloped
spaces, and encouraging responsible land management practices. By embedding conservation
values into youth programming, TARFHC aims to develop informed, respectful riders who
recognize that the future of equestrian sport is inseparable from the preservation of open land and
natural resources.

By engaging youth now, TARFHC is investing in the next generation of land
stewards—individuals who will advocate for conservation, sustain access to green space, and
uphold ethical standards throughout their equestrian lives.

We are grateful to VHIB for the opportunity to establish this Division and pass our knowledge to the future ambassadors of our sport.

RIBBONS WILL BE AWARDED FOR THE JUNIOR DIVISION THROUGH EIGHTH PLACE
